His tombstone in the Montello Cemetery said he was born in 1856 [see picture above]. See his Marquette County death certificate which says Gotleb Henry Zarbrook was born Nov 9, 1856 in Wisconsin and was buried on Feb. 17, 1928 in Montello, WI.
Parents:
Daniel Zahrbauch and Julianna "Jule" Modanzen
Family lore says that Daniel Zarbrook/Zahrbauch and Julianna "Jule or Julie" Modanzen [or Maddance or Madden] were his parents. Gottlieb was living with his parents in 1870 (see census entry below).

See his death certificate, which says that Gotleb Henry Zarbrook/Zarbuck parents' were listed as Daniel and Julia Madden.

Gottlieb Zarbrook (father) shares a tombstone with Augusta (mother) in the Montello Cemetery, Marquette Co., WI.

His death certificate said he was married to Augusta Zarbrook. Family oral history says they got married on Mar. 21, 1878. [SOURCE: Deborah Slager]

Emma (age 1) was living with her parents in 1880, and in 1900 was living with husband George Street (born April 1878 in Wis.) and her parents. She was age 21 (born Mar. 1879) in 1900 (see census details).
The 1905 Wisconsin Census in Packwaukee, Marquette Co., Wisconsin, shows:
  • George Street (head of household, age 40, born in Wis., parents born in Germany, farm laborer, renter)
  • Emma Street (wife, age 36, born in Germany, parents born in Germany [birthplace information in error])

Family lore says that Emma died of malnutrition, and her husband George Street died of a heart attack. [SOURCE: Daniel Klawitter] Their son Art Street is buried in the Underhill Cemetery, Packwaukee Township, Marquette Co., WI. His tombstone says he was born Apr. 1, 1905 and died June 15, 1963.

Gustav "Gust" Zarbrook or Zarbuck

The 1900 census shows Gust was age 19 then (born Oct. 1880 in Wis., farmer) (see census details).
The 1905 Wisconsin Census in Montello, Marquette Co., Wisconsin, shows Gustav Zarbuck was living alone at age 25 (single, occupation - stone polisher), born in Wisconsin, and his parents born in Germany.
The 1910 Federal Census in Montello, Marquette Co., WI, shows:
  • Gustav Zarbuck (age 29, born in Wis., parents born in Germany, polisher in a stone quarry)
  • his wife Lizzie (age 17, no children, born in Wis., parents born in Germany).

The following may or may not apply to this Gust Zarbuck. A person with this name was reported to have a son, Jerome Gilbert Zarbuck, who was born Jan. 9, 1929 in Richford and died Feb. 16, 1929 of polio. The mother was Clara (born in Milwaukee). Jerome was buried in Montello, Marquette County, WI. [SOURCE: Deborah Slager]

Gustav Zarbuck was named as a witness in his sister Bertha's marriage in May 1900 (see her marriage record).

Gusta M. Zarbrook or Zarbock
b. Jan. 1884
Gusta appears on the 1900 census with her parents. She was age 16 (born Jan. 1884 in Wis.).

Family members say she married Julius Nandorf on Jan. 25, 1903 in Marquette Co., WI. Gusta's sisters Minnie and Amanda has nephews and a niece with the last name of Nindorf living with them as early as 1920 (see Minnie's and Amanda's entries below). My family notes show Julius' surname was spelled with an a, but census records suggest it was Nindorf instead.

Family members say she married Paul G. Zacharias on Aug. 24, 1905 in Marquette Co., WI.

Minnie was living with her parents in 1900 in the town of Marquette, Green Lake Co., WI (age 10, born Feb. 1890) (see census entry below).


The 1910 Federal Census in the town of Marquette, Green Lake Co., WI, shows:
  • Paul G. Zacharias (age 36, married four years, born in Germany, farmer, gives immigration date but it is hard to read - could be 1886)
  • wife Minnie (age 20, born in Wis., parents born in Germany, had one child who was alive that year)
  • son Rudolph G. (age 2, born in Wis.)
  • servant Mary Zabork [my best guess at spelling; could this be a Zarbrook?] (age 18, born in Wis., parents born in Germany.)

The 1920 Federal Census in the town of Marquette, Green Lake Co., WI, shows:
  • Paul Zacharias (age 45, born in Germany, immigration date given but is hard to read, could be 1876)
  • wife Minnie (age 30, born in Wis., father born in Wis., mother born in Germany)

Earl L. Nindorf is buried in Summit Cemetery (Foxboro, Douglas County, WI); born Nov. 26, 1904, died Nov. 7, 1992, private U.S. Army. [SOURCE: www.interment.net] Carl Nindorf appears on a Westfield High School, Marquette County, commencement announcement in 1925; his residence was given as Montello.
A "Minnie Zacharias" was issued a Social Security number in Wisconsin. This record on ancestry.com says she was born Feb. 14, 1889, and died June 1971 (last residence was Brandon, Fond du Lac, WI). The birthdate does not match the date given by family members.
Family lore says that Minnie and her husband Paul both died at their home on an island on Puckaway Lake (Marquette Co., WI). [SOURCE: Daniel Klawitter]

Alfred G. Zarbrook or Zarbock

Alfred appears in the 1900 census as living in Packwaukee, Marquette Co., WI (age 7, born July 1892), in 1905 (age 14) and in 1910 (age 17) with his parents (see census details).
The 1920 Federal Census in the town of Marquette, Green Lake Co., WI, shows:
  • Alfred Zarbrook (age 29, farm laborer, born in Wis., father born in Wis., mother born in Germany)
  • his wife Ella (age 19, born in South Dakota, parents born in Wis.).
His sister Minnie was living next door with her husband and children.
Although the age is inconsistent with other sources, this record might apply (birth place and mother's birthplace match):

The 1930 Federal Census in Carondelet, St. Louis, Missouri, shows Alfred G. Zarbrook (age 36) living in the military post of Jefferson Barracks. This census says he was a widow and a private in the infantry. It said he married for the first time at age 19 or 29 [first digit hard to read]. His father was born in Wisconsin and his mother in Bromberg, Germany. His occupation was given as Teamster, and he was listed as a veteran of the World War (which would have been WWI).


His tombstone in the Underhill Cemetery (Packwaukee Township, Marquette Co., WI) said Alfred G. Zarbrook lived from 1892 to 1966. The Social Security death index on ancestry.com says Alfred Zarbrook was born June 9, 1891 [which does not match birthdate information from other sources] and died Oct. 1966. This record gave his last residence as Montello, Marquette County, WI.

Amanda "Mandy" or "Manda" Zarbrook or Zarbock
b. Mar. 27, 1897;
d. Mar. 26, 1990
Manda was living with her parents in Packwaukee, Marquette Co., WI in 1900 (age 3) and in 1905 (age 10) (see census details).

Family members say she married David Cragin on Aug. 22, 1915. David was the brother of Byron Cragin who married Alma Klawitter (the daughter of Emil Klawitter and Bertha Zarbrook). Amanda's son Bernard D. Cragin appears on the Social Security death index on ancestry.com as born July 11, 1916 and died Nov. 23, 1997 (his last residence was Montello, Marquette Co., WI). A Russell H. Cragin is on the Social Security death index as born Sept. 11, 1921, and died May 31, 1999 (last residence Superior, Douglas County, WI). This Russell may or may not be Amanda's son; I haven't traced his background.
Amanda L. Cragin is on the Social Security death index on ancestry.com. Her Social Security number was issued in Wisconsin. She was born Mar. 27, 1897 and died Mar. 26, 1990.

The 1900 federal census shows that Gusta Zarbock had eight children with seven living that year. Details of the deceased child are so far unknown.

His tombstone in Montello, Marquette Co., WI (cemetery next to the courthouse) said he lived from 1856-1928 [see picture above]. See his Marquette County death certificate, which said Gotleb Henry Zarbrook died Feb. 15, 1928 and was buried Feb. 17, 1928 in Montello, WI. The certificate said he died of endocarditis (duration two years) with a secondary cause of exhaustion. Physician E.H. Federman (of Montello) said he attended to him Nov. 25, 1927 to Feb. 15, 1928 (the day he died). Amanda Cragin (of Montello) [his daughter] was the informant. The certificate said he was a retired farmer. His father was listed as Daniel, and his mother's maiden name was Julia Madden.
