Info Category Details
Born:
Sept. 8, 1850
Her obituary said she was born Sept. 8, 1850 in Stedeznier. Otto's Bible said she was born in Stedrysier (Otto was her son). [I found Studeznier on an 1849 Prussian map; it was in the southern portion of the Netze River drainage area, south of Budzin, SE of Gramsdf., NE of the city of Posen.].
Parents:
likely Jacob Martin Wichner and Ms. Mittelstaedt
A letter on Sept. 20, 1961 from Adaline Tagatz to her sister Evaline said that her research found that Jacob Martin Wichner and Anna Dorothea Mittelstaedt were Maria Juliana Wichner's parents. An undated contradictory note, also written by Adaline, said that Mary Mittelstaedt was Maria's mother.

Adaline Tagatz wrote: "Johann Ludwig Schubert made his home at the home of Jakob Martin Wichner and Mary (Mittelstaedt) Wichner, the parents of his future wife, and worked at different places until he had the indebtedness paid off of the funds advanced for his emigration to U.S.A."

Marriage:
Married to Johann Ludwig Schubert on Feb. 22 or 23, 1870
Maria Julianna Schubert's obituary said that she was married to Mr. John Ludwig Schubert by Rev. Alwart on Feb. 23, 1870. A transcription online of the Marquette County Pre-1907 Marriages on rootsweb.com said that Johann Ludwig Schubert married Julia Wichner on Feb. 22, 1870 (Vol. 1, Pg. 120, Certificate #770). The two sources are one day apart.

The 1870 Census said that Julia married her husband Lewis in Feb. 1870 (see census entry below).

Children:
Several children with John Ludwig Schubert
Maria had several children with her husband John Ludwig Schubert. For details about their children and their children's families, go to John's web page.
Immigration:
1856
The 1910 and 1920 census forms say that she immigrated in 1856 (see census entries below). Her obituary says she came to America when she was "still an infant, three years old" when her family settled on a farm near Crystal Lake. One family note says she came to America when she was about eight years old. I'm inclined to put more weight on the census data since the 1856 date would have come directly from Maria or her husband.

Died:
Mar. 1, 1927

She shares a tombstone in the Richford Cemetery, Waushara Co., WI, with her husband. It said: Mother M. Julianna Schubert - 1850-1927. [SOURCE: Cemetery Transcription by Wayne Guyant in 1977]

Notes left by Adaline Tagatz say that Julia died of dropsy (a weak heart) and complications of old age and didn't have a white hair on her head. She said Julia's hair was very thin, still being light brown when she died.
