  The above document (dated April 30, 1918) says that Julius Edward Klawitter was a farmer living in Harris Twp., Wisconsin [Marquette Co.]. He was born Jan. 25, 1868 in Province Posen, Germany. He immigrated from Hamburg, Germany June 3, 1882 on the vessel Oder (arriving in New York). He declared his intention to become a citizen of the United States on July 8, 1991 at Montello, WI. Family members named in this document include (all children born in and residing in Harris Twp., WI): Matilda (wife, born March 27, 1887 at Harris Twp. Wisconsin [date seems to be an error]) -- "now deceased"; Edwin A. (son, born Dec. 12, 1895); Ester (daughter, born Oct. 15, 1898); Albert (son, born Aug. 24, 1902); Ella (daughter, born Sept. 17, 1904).

Wm. Schoenfeld (farmer) and Theodore Strich (farmer) swore that Julius lived in the United States continuously since May 1, 1902. The clerk signing the document was W.A. Cole.
